Northern Flicker

Brownish woodpecker with a spotted breast and black bib. There are two distinct subspecies: in the north and east, yellow-shafted flickers have yellow wing and tail linings and males have a black ‘mustache’; in the west, red-shafted flickers have red wing and tail linings and males have a red ‘mustache’.
