Tarantula

Large brown-black to reddish hairy spiders have a leg span of up to 6 in. (15 cm). Venom is no worse than a bee sting, but large jaws can inflict a painful bite. Non-aggressive to humans. When cornered, they will raise their front legs and bare their fangs. Hairs on abdomen will irritate skin. Most live in burrows or cavities.
